Sock Summit 2009! August 6, 2009

Filed under: Knitting tips and hints,Knitting Travels — happystitches @ 16:21

I have arrived safely in Portland – this is going to be BIG. There was a teachers’ dinner held last night to give us all chance to meet informally – teachers usually rush by one another in a corridor frantically waving and that’s about the extent of the social life for us. Here is an historic meeting – the first time that Priscilla Gibson-Roberts (right) has met with Barbara Walker (Center) and Nancy Bush is on the left. Sivia Harding is on the far right BTW.

There was a high level of energy last night and much chatting. Ideal for overcoming jet lag! Stephanie and Tina and their wonderful team have done a stellar job here. The market is huge – there is going to be some shopping done!

Here is a sock tip for all of you who can’t be with us here in Oregon; Sock Toe Chimneys. A way to hold all the stitches securely while offering the opportunity to neaten both corners of the graft. Try it! I think you’ll like it.

Now, I’m off to breakfast and class.
Happy happy stitches,
Lucy

Thank you Lucy! Glad to hear reports. Maybe they will do it again – although will it ever be as good?
That sock chiimney is brilliant! I cannot wait to try it and am sure it will make all the difference. It is so hard to see what you are doing the normal way.
